Symphony composed their tunes with success

Sunday 16th of June was held the last game in group B and also last game in all groups' level of the tournament Tallink Cup 2013. Isabelle versus Silja Symphony (group B) at Kaknäs stadium (Stockholm) – kick off 13:00 local time.

Isabelle lost with quite many goals to Victoria last week (0:3). In group B is naturally Victoria, as last year's winner, one of the favorites. Symphony had some difficulties to gather the whole team, but now ready to face their Latvian colleagues. Last year the game between them ended with tie 2:2, so it seems that this will be a battle between quite equal fighters. If Symphony would win this year's game, then they are together with the Victoria through to playoffs from group B.

And it was an equal battle, where both teams had their chances and goals and misuse of opportunities and emotions and … luck. Symphony started out strongest and pressed on to take the lead. And soon enough, after 8 minutes, it resulted in a shot that hit the post and the rebound was forced in by Mikael Johansson. Just minutes later Symphony got a penalty shot due to a hands situation just inside Isabelle's penalty area. However, the penalty shot was somewhat poorly executed and missed the goal by a meter or two. This was a wakeup call for Isabelle and they took over the game. Isabelle pressed on and after a massive onslaught they were rewarded with a goal. The goal was almost a copy of Symphony's goal except for the post-hit. The momentum had shifted in Isabelle's favor and minutes before halftime a fast attack from Isabelle resulted in another goal. Half time whistle and score on board equally 1:2 for Isabelle. Second half the game was good fight and battle from both sides, but luck favored Symphony better and they scored twice against Isabelle's one goal.

Second half and it was anyone's game. None of the teams seemed to get an edge and the game itself was physical, tackles were given and received, and the two teams exchanged scoring opportunities. Maybe 10 minutes in the second half a swift attack on left side from Symphony created a gap in Isabelle's defenses, and a perfectly placed pass got Symphony's Sebastian Fredriksson free with the goalkeeper. No mistakes and the score was now 2-2. Once more the game shifted and this time with a slight advantage for Symphony. A situation almost in the middle of the field and a bit to the right side gave Symphony a free kick. Distance to goal AT LEAST 45 meters. At first the ball seemed to go more up than forward, but the ball had speed and the wind helped carrying the ball closer and closer to the goal. Isabelle's goalkeeper made a heroic attempt to steal the ball from the goal, but the combination of force, speed, angle and wind helped the ball find a perfect trajectory into the far upper corner of the goal. The shot was so precise it hit the inside of the goal frame and then the ball bounced out from the goal again. SICK! Symphony 3 Isabelle 2. As true football warriors Isabelle did not give up and made a last run to get the equalizer before time ran out. But Isabelle could not muster the pressure needed to score that late in the game, and when the referee called the game Symphony was the winner. Well played Isabelle, and well fought!

Final score Symphony versus Isabelle 3:2 (half time 1:2). And we can admit that Symphony composed this time their tunes and vibes with success against Isabelle. Congartulations!

As Victoria and Symphony are already both through to playoffs, then they decided to skip the group level game between them and result 0:0 will be marked to the table. Therefore the aggregate of the goals will matter and first place of group B is Victoria and Symphony will be the second. Symphony will play in quarterfinal against Romantika (first place of group A) and Victoria will meet in quarterfinals the mighty rival and silver medalist from last year's final Galaxy (second place of group A). The playoffs and quarterfinals of the Tallink Cup 2013 will begin already this week. Please follow the updated information in our intranet Tallink Cup page. Thank you Isabelle for the good games and see you next year!
