Superstars are the Winner of Tallink Cup 2013
The Great Grand Finale for gold and glory of the Tallink Cup 2013 – Superstar versus Romantika – Kalev stadium/Tallinn 26th of August, kick-off 14:00. It is Latvia versus Estonia! One beautiful sister against the other! Huuuhaaa it is a fight and battle of everything!
Both teams have during the tournament already shown that they have everything what is needed to be a winner – respectable team, good skills and great fighting spirit. Romantika came first in the group A (with full 6 points), won Silja Symphony in quarterfinal and Tallink Hotels in semi-final. Superstar came second (aggregate of goals) in group D (actually the strongest group as Hotels won the bronze), won Baltic Queen in quarterfinal and Victoria in semi-final. Romantika reached to quarterfinal in 2011, and won bronze medals in last year´s tournament. Superstar hasn't reached to the podium in last year's tournaments, but this year is really the year of superstars. It should be mentioned, that base for Superstar of the selection of the players to the football team is almost 2 times smaller than the other teams in our fleet, as the crew number aboard is much smaller.
The final match was really striking, stunning with lots of feelings – real football final. First half of the game was hard battle for both teams where Superstar takes the lead 1:0. On the end of the first half, from the free kick, Romantika scored the beautiful equalizer. Score after first half 1:1. On the second half ruthless battle continued and there were mega opportunities from both sides, where couple of times seemed that … almost, but no. Regular time ended 1:1 and the additional time 10 + 10 minutes followed, but after 110 minutes of playing game still in tie. Therefore the game must decide by penalties - huuhaa. Both teams choose five players and after the final kick the score of the penalties 4 against 3 for Superstar and they are now in the Hall of Fame! I´m sure that everybody who was watching the game can admit - what a game and what a final, where the excitement lasted until the very end!
The final score of the game 5:4 (1:1 and 4:3 pen) for Superstar and they are the triumphant winners of the Tallink Cup 2013 – VIVA LALALAA SUPERSTAAAAAAR - congratulations! Romantika got respectably the silver medals – good job and cheers for the result!
