SISU versus JONN - Serenade in Grande Finale
Silja Serenade versus Victoria, Wednesday 19th of July at Brahe stadium (Helsinki) – kick off 13:30 local time. This is the first game of semifinals of Tallink Cup 2017.
Already 12 games in group level and 4 quarterfinal games and now the two games of semifinals will follow. Nothing less than the place in the Grande Finale is on the table. Serenade has shown very good and skillful games this year and their motivation is high as they haven’t so far reached to the medals. Victoria as one of the most stable teams in the tournament throughout the years has already their name in the Hall of Fame from 2012. These teams have met once in the football field in 2014, also in semifinal, in very interesting game, where Victoria won in very tight game with penalties.
The coin flip decided that the game will be in Helsinki, and it gives slight advantage for Serenade. Still Victoria managed to arrange quite full team and traveled to Finland for the battle. The first half in general started lasted and ended as a game of Victoria. The score was opened in 5 minutes by striker Kaldma, his second followed and third goal by Sotnik nailed the score, where Victorians already started to think that it should be enough for the passage to the Finale. Half time score 3:0 for team Victoria. Second half and Serenade came with still their flags high. Ruthless battle and game more dictated now by Serenade. In 57 minutes their first goal from free kick from 30 meters via grossbar by Partanen - beautiful. Pressure and good movement of the ball continued, where Victoria more stayed in the defense. Ten minutes to the final whistle and Sere scored their second. Emotions high and additional motivation involved. And huuhaaa Serenade by their striker Wirman scores also their equalizer three minutes before the end of the normal time. What a comeback by Serenade! The teams decided to skip the additional game time and went straight to penalties. The conclusion of the penalties 4:1 for Serenade, where their goalkeeper Lehtinen did superbly his job.
Final score Serenade versus Victoria 3(4 pen) : 3(1 pen) (half time 0:3). Wow what a game and this time Finnish “SISU” was stronger than Estonian “JONN” and Serenade will play in the Grande Finale!

Now we must wait the result of the second semifinal Galaxy versus Tallink Hotels, what will be played 5th of August in Tallinn. Victoria is waiting for their opponent in the Bronze game and Serenade their battle partner in the Grande Finale. The Grande Finale is planned to be held in Helsinki 7th of September during the Staff Festival of TallinkSilja.
