Queen like Greeks go forward
Tuesday 1st of July was held the fourth and last quarterfinal of the Tallink Cup 2014. Baltic Queen versus Tallink Office at Sportland Arena stadium (Tallinn) – kick off 11:30 local time.
This is the last game of the quarterfinal stage of 2014. Baltic Queen had a good group level performance, as they came to quarterfinals as a first from group B. Office team finalized the very tight group level as a second. Baltic Queen reached to playoffs also last year's tournament, where their success was stopped in the quarterfinals. As for Office team this is their first tournament participation, then these teams hasn't played against each other before. Both are eager to go forward to semi-finals, where Tallink Hotels team is already waiting for them.
Huuhaa what a quarterfinal it was! Weather was beautiful day with clouds and lots of rain, where the result was very slippery pitch. First half started quite carefully and very equally. Both had their chances, but Queen started the score first. In the very end of first half Office scored the equalizer and their where back in the game again. Half time score 1: 1. The first part of the second half belonged to Office team, as they pressed hard and scored twice. Then Queen gathered it power and started to press and 3 minutes before half time whistle, where it was almost clear that win belongs to Office team, the defender from Office team blocked the ball in its box with his hand in purpose and referee give direct red card and penalty. Queen scored the given penalty and now Office team, with one less player needed just to defend 2 more minutes, but Queen´s striker was pulled down in the box in the very second minute and another penalty was given. Queen scored the penalty and the score was in tie 3:3 until the end of normal time. Additional time followed 10 + 10 minutes, where ruthless slippery battle continued. Both teams did their best. Queen scored on the first half of the additional time and penalty kick was given on the second half for Office, which they scored. Tie game again. Final whistle and score 4:4, what meant, that the penalty kicks will decide, who will win and go forward. On the regular round 5 players, both teams missed 1 and the one by one followed, where the 7th penalty was saved by the Queens goalkeeper and they scored theirs. Really, what a game and huuhaaa, real playoff, where the Baltic Queen did something like the Greeks team in World Cup in Brazil. Office team did excellent debut this year and thank you guys for the beautiful games, but this year's luck ended here – see you again next year!
