Baltic Queen won with penalty kicks

The second game of the quarter-finals of the Tournament – Baltic Queen versus Romantika in Kaknäs stadium/Stockholm - 6th of June, kick off 11:30.

This was for Romantika their first game in the Tournament, as they had because of the play-off system an advantage with straight placement in the quarter finals. As Baltic Queen won Silja Serenade in the 1st stage game by dispute - therefore they were very eager to show, that they are capable to win by score. Among other interesting facts, it should be mentioned, that captains of the both teams are head chefs of respective vessels. So it's also a chef against chef situation. Most probably this will add some additional necessitate to show to the opponent vessel from neighboring route, that beside the excellent food onboard, we are also better in football than you. Its seems that the football is popular among both vessels crew members and especially BQ - they have registered 30 players, what is so far the biggest number in this Tournament.

Besides excellent weather conditions (warm and sunny) and big number of fans from both vessels, the game itself was very tough and equal battle. The normal time ended with tie 1:1 (half time 1:0 for Baltic Queen). It should be mentioned, that Romantika goalkeeper Vladimirs Ivanovs did excellent job on the second half and kept their net clean. Also the overtime 10+10 minutes didn't bring any result and consequently the game was decided by penalty kicks. This is as always very emotional and dramatic and some say that very much depending of luck. Anyway, Baltic Queen won the penalty series by 5:4 and as a result also the game. Baltic Queen's chef and his team was this time better than their dear colleagues from Riga-Stockholm route, and they are now through to semi-finals – congratulations and God save the Queen!

We have first semi-final couple – Victoria versus Baltic Queen! It is perfect and great principal opposition situation as both vessels are known by each other and competing in everyday business in the same route (Tallinn-Stockholm). It should be very interesting game! Besides, it's a fact that one of them will play in the final match.

PS: Tomorrow 7th of June, we have a third match of the quarter finals - Superstar vs Baltic Princess in Kalev stadium/Tallinn, kick off 10:00.
