Tallink launches new service Tallink Shuttle
AS Tallink Grupp announced that in connection with the new high speed vessel being launched andchristened today at Aker Yards it will also launch a new high speed passenger service named Tallink Shuttle.
AS Tallink Grupp’s Sales and Marketing Director Peter Roose said, that with the new ship the company is also launching a new service named Tallink Shuttle. “From spring 2007 our passengers will have three great options of travelling between Helsinki and Tallinn.They can choose between the quick and very comfortable transportation service Tallink Shuttle or our high speed service Tallink Express or our leisure and entertainment service Tallink Cruise. Although the trip on Tallink Shuttle will be will be quite short, there is a wide variety of opportunities to spend your time onboard. These opportunities are provided by the ship’s four restaurants, two bars and over 1500 square meters of shopping area. The vessel will also have a business class where one can relax in a quiet setting, enjoy a meal, use the internet, fax and other communication means,” added Roose
With the new vessel Tallink will be able to provide year round high speed service between Helsinki and Tallinn from spring 2007. The new ice class vessel will operate also in winter. Tallink Shuttle service will offer reliable scheduled service as the new vessel operates in all weather conditions. The new vessel can sail between Helsinki and Tallinn in less than 2 hours.
The new generation 1A ice class high speed vessel has a gross tonnage of 33 000, length of 186 and width of 27,7 meters, power of engines is 48 000 kW and speed 27,5 knots. The ship has 11 decks, 2300 seats, 520 beds and can accommodate up to 1900 passengers. The car deck of 2000 lane meters has space for up to 120 trucks or 450 cars. The cost of the new vessel is around 110 million Euros.
The new high speed vessel is christened and launched today at 13.15 in Helsinki, Aker Yards.
AS Tallink Grupp has ordered another similar high speed vessel also from the Italian shipyard Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italiani S.p.A. which should be delivered in early 2008.
At the moment Tallink operates with three high speed vessels and two cruise ferries on the Tallinn-Helsinki route.
