AS Tallink Grupp serviced a record number of 9 million passengers during last 12 months. The passenger volumes of the company have gone up 8 percent compared to the previous year. The number of transported passenger vehicles increased by almost 10 percent reaching one million and cargo units by 11 percent.
From 1st of September 2010 to 31st of August 2011 Tallink transported altogether 9 068 526 (+7.6%) passengers, 1 059 814 (+9.8%) passenger vehicles and 287 865 (+11.2%) cargo units. For the third year already the company reached a new record in the monthly volumes in July, transporting over one million passengers in one calendar month.
The largest increase was seen on Latvia-Sweden route, where 705 721 (+16.5%) passengers were transported. The largest number of passengers was transported on Finland-Estonia route with 4 202 661 passengers (+10.9%). The passenger number on Finland-Sweden route was 3 173 921 (+1.2%) and on Estonia-Sweden 922 197 (+10.1%). On Germany-Finland route closed in mid-August, the passenger number increased by 10.6 percent to 64 026.
In August Tallink transported 917 813 passengers, which is 1 percent less than last year. The number of transported passenger vehicles decreased by 5 percent to 114 943 and of cargo units increased by 3.7 percent to 23 177. In the fourth quarter the passenger number increased by 4.8 percent, the number of passenger vehicles by 1.2 percent and the number of cargo units by 4.3 percent.
The 2010/2011 financial year of AS Tallink Grupp is set in congruence with the calendar year, lasting 16 months. The current financial year starts thereby on 1st of September 2010 and ends on 31st of December 2011. The company is listed on Nasdaq OMX Tallinn Stock Exchange.
