Tallink transported over half a million passengers in February

In February 2010 AS Tallink Grupp transported 551 595 passengers which is an 8% decrease compared to the previous year.

The growth was seen on Latvia-Sweden and Estonia-Finland routes, where the company transported 27 399 (+17,5%) and 238 900 (+1%) passengers respectively. On Finland-Sweden route the company transported 233 038 (-14%) and on Sweden-Estonia route 52 258
(-19%). On the Finland-Germany route there was no traffic during February due to the planned maintenance and repair works of the vessels.

The passenger volumes were influenced by the fact that the winter holidays in Finland are partly scheduled to March this year compared to February in 2009 and also by the planned maintenance and repair works of both vessels of the Germany-Finland route.

The number of transported passenger vehicles showed continuous increase in the last month. Tallink transported 52 324 passenger vehicles (+5%). The number of cargo units decreased by 1,8 percent to 18 714 in February as there was no traffic on Finland-Germany route due to the planned repair works of the Superfast vessels.

AS Tallink Grupp is the leading passenger shipping company on the Baltic Sea owning 19 vessels and operating under brands of Tallink and Silja Line on seven different shipping routes. Tallink has 6800 employees in Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Russia and Germany.
