In January 2010 AS Tallink Grupp transported 491 393 passengers which is a 15% decrease compared to the previous year.
The growth was seen on Latvia-Sweden route, where the company transported 33 472 (+15%) passengers. On Finland-Sweden route the company transported 187 724 (-18%), on Finland-Estonia route 218 263 (-8, 5%), on Estonia-Sweden route 51 815 (-31%) and on the Finland-Germany route 119 passengers (-98 %). The results of the Finland-Germany route were influenced by the planned maintenance and repair works of both vessels on the route, which started respectively on 23rd of December 2009 and 3rd of January 2010. The charters of Victoria I and Silja Festival influenced the passenger numbers on Estonia-Sweden and Latvia-Sweden routes, as those vessels performed no regular trips during the first week of January.
The number of transported vehicles showed continuous increase in the last month. Tallink transported 55 582 passenger vehicles (+3 %), the number of cargo units decreased by 19 percent to 16 061 in January. The number of transported cargo was influenced by the planned maintenance and repair works of both Superfast vessels and cargo vessel SeaWind, due to what there was no traffic on Finland-Germany route as well as decreased cargo transportation capacity on Finland-Sweden route. On a comparable basis, excluding the above operational changes the like for like growth in cargo units was 1%.
