Silja Europa should return to Turku-Stockholm route on 19th of December making her first trip from Turku at her regular time schedule at 20.15, announced AS Tallink Grupp.
Silja Europa repair works should be finished by the 17th of December. In order to guarantee the safety of the ship, the repair works time was extended for 6 days whereby the broken starboard rudderstock as well as the port side rudderstock of the ship will be replaced. Additionally planned maintenance works like painting, cleaning and plumbing were done during the docking.
The ship will sail from Gdansk directly to Turku and begins her service on the 19th of December with the departure to Stockholm at 20:15.
The reasons why the rudder stock of Silja Europa was broken are still under investigation. The costs of the incident and docking were not announced by the company.
Tallink Silja emphasizes that because of the extension of the repair works time of Silja Europa, the company will contact all passengers and rebook them. Tallink Grupp apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused our passengers.
Cruise ferry Baltic Queen, which is replacing Silja Europa until the 19th of December, will return to Tallinn-Stockholm route. Her first departure will be from Tallinn on the 20th of December at 18:00.
Cruise ferry Silja Europa was on her way from Stockholm to Turku, when technical problems occurred on the 22nd of November. Due to the quick and professional work of the crew and master, there was no threat to people on board or the ship.
