Cruise ferry Silja Europa started her way to Riga ship repair yard on Thursday morning at 8.30.
Divers completed the ships preparation for passage and maritime authorities have given their permission for her voyage to Riga. Silja Europa is assisted by tugboats during the trip through the Turku and by arriving to Riga. The estimated time for arrival in Riga is Friday, 27th of November at 13.30.
Silja Europa heads to Riga ship repair yard, since there were no vacancies in the repair yards nearer to Turku during a week. The exact duration of the repair works is not known yet.
Cruise ferry Silja Europa was on her way from Stockholm to Turku, when technical problems occurred on Sunday afternoon. Due to the quick and professional work of the crew and master, there was no threat to people on board or the ship. The ship, which was secured by a tugboat, arrived today in Turku on Monday at 16.30.
Tallink Silja`s newest cruise ferry Baltic Queen will replace Silja Europa during her extraordinary repair works from 26th of November. The ship will take over the usual schedule of Silja Europa, departing from Turku every evening at 20.15 and from Stockholm every morning at 7.10. There will be no changes in the schedule of cruise ferry Galaxy servicing on the same route. The only difference is that no day-cruises from Stockholm are arranged with Baltic Queen.
