Tallink Silja`s newest cruise ferry Baltic Queen will replace Silja Europa during her extraordinary repair works in the time period of 26th of November until 11th of December. The company is excited about offering the passengers of Turku-Stockholm route a unique experience during the pre-Christmas time.
The CEO of Tallink Silja Oy, Mr. Margus Schults said that it is a unique opportunity for all Turku-Stockholm route passengers to experience one of the most beautiful ships on the Baltic Sea. “The uniqueness lies also within the possibility to enjoy a mixture of entertainment, new restaurants and shops on board. The decision of replacing repaired Silja Europa was important, since especially during the pre-Christmas time we have more passengers on Turku-Stockholm route than on Tallinn-Stockholm route where Baltic Queen is usually sailing”, said Schults.
According to initial plans Baltic Queen will operate on Turku-Stockholm route from 26th of November until 11th of December. The ship will take over the usual schedule of Silja Europa, departing from Turku every evening at 20.15 and from Stockholm every morning at 7.10. There will be no changes in the schedule of cruise ferry Galaxy servicing on the same route. The only difference is that no day-cruises from Stockholm are arranged with Baltic Queen.
M/S Baltic Queen is considered to be the new flagship of Tallink`s fleet. The vessel was delivered by STX Europe shipyard in April 2009. Tallink ordered Baltic Queen, worth 180 million Euros, in December 2007.
Baltic Queen is one of the largest cruise ferries on the Baltic Sea, accommodating up to 2800 passengers and 1130 lane meters of vehicles. The ship is 212 meters long, 29 meters wide and has the speed capacity of up to 24 knots. There are 927 cabins, 4 different restaurants, 8 bars and entertainment lounges, conference centre of 450 seats and three shops of altogether 1200 square meters. For children there is a special game room on board.
Baltic Queen has catalytic converters, which increase the environmental friendliness of the vessel. For operating in more difficult weather conditions, the ship has ice class 1 A Super.
Tallink Silja emphasizes that regarding the changes on the routes the company will contact all passengers directly and contacts first those passengers, who have a trip in the nearest time.
