AS Tallink Grupp transported altogether 2 701 575 passengers in fourth quarter of ended financial year (June-August), which is 14, 3 percent more than last year. The passenger number in August increased by 9 percent to 851 919 passengers.
Growth of passenger numbers as well as passenger vehicles was seen on all company’s major routes. During fourth quarter Tallink transported 222 591 (+53%) passengers on Latvia-Sweden route, 1 104 713 (+20%) passengers on Finland-Estonia route, 284 860 (+8,5%) passengers on Estonia-Sweden route and 1 045 175 (+8%) on Finland-Sweden route.
On the route Germany-Finland Tallink transported 44 236 passengers (-33%) in fourth quarter. The results of the Germany-Finland route were influenced by the change, according to which starting from September 2008 two vessels continue on the route instead of three.
Additionally to passenger numbers, also the number of transported vehicles increased in the fourth quarter. Tallink transported 333 587 passenger vehicles (+26%), but the number of cargo units decreased by 22 percent to 58 634.
In August Tallink transported altogether 851 919 (+9%) passengers, 105 873 passenger vehicles (+25%) and 19 368 (-20,5%) cargo units.
The financial year of AS Tallink Grupp starts on 1st of September and ends on 31st of August.
