Yesterday, on 27 may 2009 Tallink Latvija welcomed its one-millionth passenger on the Riga – Stockholm line. The one millionth passenger, Sintija Pūce from Liepāja was awarded a special Tallink certificate and a surprise present on board of the ferry M/S Silja Festival.
“The Riga – Stockholm route was opened 3 years ago, namely on 6 April 2009. Ever since the line boosts continuous upgrades in terms of new vessels and recently on 8 May 2009 the state-of-the-art cruise ferry M/S Romantika was launched in the Riga – Stockholm line”, explains Hillard Taur, Managing Director AS Tallink Latvija. “This time the one-millionth passenger on Riga – Stockholm line was welcomed and celebrated on board of the other ferry M/S Silja Festival that departed Riga Passenger Port yesterday.”
Sintija Pūce, the one-millionth passenger learned about her special status in the evening 27 May 2009 on board of ferry M/S Silja Festival while on her way from Riga to Stockholm. She was congratulated and presented a surprise gift by Hillard Taur, Managing Director AS Tallink Latvija. In addition to the Tallink’s gifts Sintija Pūce and her three friends were awarded free monthly cruise trips from Riga to Stockholm until May 2010.
Sintija Pūce is a teacher from Liepāja and she went on the lucky trip after being persuaded by her own schoolchildren. “My schoolchildren decided to go on the trip because there were very tempting offers. So I didn’t really have a choice, I simply had to go with them”, admits Sintija Pūce, the lucky traveller. It was her first Tallink operated trip. So far Sintija Pūce has never been lucky with lotteries and bonus prizes, however, now she admits it would be really hard to deny the fact that she has pulled one truly lucky card.
“It was a great surprise for me! It is clear that from now on you’ll see me on your ferries time and time again”, said Sintija Pūce, the cheerful one-millionth passenger served by Tallink Latvija. “I also wish the two-millionth passenger the same pleasant surprises and gifts from Tallink”, she adds.
AS Tallink Latvija, a daughter company of the Estonian shipping company AS Tallink Grupp, is the only shipping company in Latvia that offers daily operated shipments of passengers, vehicles and cargoes between Latvia and Sweden. Ferries M/S Romantika and M/S Silja Festival fly the Latvian flag in the Riga – Stockholm line. In April 2009 the monthly turnover reached 39 452 (+80%) passengers, 5 960 (+60%) vehicles and 1 005 (-25%) cargo units in the Riga – Stockholm line.
