Tallink`s cruise ferry Romantika starts on Riga-Stockholm route

Tallink`s cruise ferry Romantika will start operating on Riga-Stockholm route launched in 2006 on 8th of May. This reorganization increases the route’s capacity and travel convenience.

According to the Managing Director of Tallink Latvia, Mr. Hillard Taur has the development work brought many more passengers and continuously positive feedback is also hoped from arrival of Romantika. „During three years of operating we have brought larger and newer ships to the route to increase the capacity and general quality. I believe that Romantika will be popular among our passengers and we have now reached the optimal selection of ships for the route, “added Taur.

Romantika is the first new building for Tallink delivered by Aker Finnyards in 2002. The vessel accommodates up to 2500 passengers in over 700 cabins and 1000 lane meters of vehicles. The 193,8 meters long and 29 wide ship has the highest ice class 1A Super and the speed capacity of 22 knots. Romantika will operate on Riga-Stockholm route under Latvian flag with crew of Latvian and Estonian seamen.

Romantika is a large entertainment center for the whole family. There are five restaurants and cafeterias, two large shops, children’s playroom, saunas and six bars and pubs including a sun deck bar. The conference center has seats for 270 people.

In April 2006 Tallink opened Riga-Stockholm route with the passenger ferry Fantaasia. In May 2006 Fantaasia was replaced with passenger ferry Regina Baltica, which will now leave the route when Romantika arrives. In 2007 the company added the second vessel to the route – Vana Tallinn, which enabled to offer everyday departures from both destination ports. In 2008 Tallink replaced the oldest passenger vessel Vana Tallinn with Silja Festival, which used to operate on Turku-Stockholmi route. From May 2009 Tallink operates on the routes with cruise ferries Romantika and Silja Festival.
