Tallink launched automatic check-in in terminals in Stockholm and Helsinki

The passengers of Tallink and Silja ships can now use the comfortable automatic check-in already in three – in Stockholm Värtahamn terminal, in Helsinki Länsiterminal and in Tallinn D-terminal.

In Helsinki Länsiterminal 4 automatic check-in machines were opened on Monday, in Stockholm Värtahamn terminal 10 machines. In Tallinn D-terminal Tallink`s passengers can use the automatic check-in already from last year.

Tallink`s Sale and Marketing Director Mr.  Peter Roose said, that the terminals are similar to those used in airports, but they are even more useful for boarding a ship. „There is no need to stand in long queues to the check-in desks anymore to get the boarding card before boarding the ship. Tallink's customers can now register their passenger tickets quickly and easily by performing the self check-in to get on board“, said Roose.

For automatic check-in the passenger requires to enter the booking number and security code on the booking confirmation as well as confirming the registration. The members of Tallink`s loyal customer program Club One draw the card through the machine, choose the booking and confirm the registration. The machine prints the boarding cards and the coupons for ordered additional services.

Currently the self check-in terminals cannot be used for registering bookings made for groups or passengers with vehicles.

Tallinn was the first place to be equipped with the terminals because the number of trips is greatest on the Tallinn-Helsinki route and the speed of procedures before boarding is more important for people taking a trip by fast ships. The software used in the terminals has been developed by Tallink specifically to meet the needs of our passengers and the possibilities of our booking system.

From Stockholm Värtahamn terminal depart company’s Silja branded ships of the routes Stockholm-Helsinki and Stockholm-Turku, from Helsinki Länsiterminal the Tallink branded ships of the route Helsinki-Tallinn and from Tallinn D-terminal the Tallink branded ships of the routes Tallinn-Stockholm and Tallinn-Helsinki.

The company intends to install the machines in several other terminals as well.
