M/S Seawind, which yesterday got damages by fire in the engine room arrived to Turku. In Turku the ship will be unloaded and the repair works will be started, announced AS Tallink Grupp.
AS Tallink Grupp has started an internal investigation to find out the cause of fire. The company also cooperates closely with the Swedish and Finnish Maritime administrations, who will conduct and official inquiry.
The repair works will start immediately after the administrations have given the permission. The repair works will be done in Turku port.
The passengers of Seawind have arrived to Turku as well and as the ship is unloaded they will get their trucks. The company will arrange them the transportation to their requested destination.
On Tuesday night at 2.25 there was a fire in the engine room of Seawind, which was heading from Turku to Stockholm. The fire which broke out in the engine room for still unknown reasons, was extinguished by the crew within 1, 5 hours. No passengers, crew members or cargo was harmed or damaged during the accident. The passengers were transported to Mariehamn by helicopter and then to Turku by ship. Seawind was towed to Turku port.
