Changes to Paldiski-Kapellskär route

AS Tallink Grupp, Press-Release
27.12.2006

Changes to Paldiski-Kapellskär route

AS Tallink Grupp announces that passengers from the Paldiski-Kapellskär route will be temporarily be redirected via Tallinn to Stockholm until April 2007. During the same period the cargo vessel Regal Star will operate on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route.

Vana Tallinn, which up until now has carried passenger and cargo units on the Paldski-Kapellskär route will begin service on the  Tallinn-Helsinki route from January until April 2007 when the new fast ferry M/S Star will begin service. Meloodia will be chartered to the Mediterranean.

Tallink’s Sales and Marketing Director Peter Roose said the change is temporary and will mostly affect passenger traffic. „From January until April passengers on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route will be redirected onto the Tallinn- Stockholm route. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause,” said Roose.

Regal Star will be rerouted from the Tallinn-Helsinki route and will carry cargo traffic on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route beginning the 3rd of January.

Tallink signed a charter contract for Meloodia with the Spanish company Eurolineas Maritimas S.A  who operates under the Baleraria name on the 27th of December. Meloodia will start operating in the Mediterranean beginning from January 2007. The charter objective was to optimise cargo traffic in anticipation of the new generation fast ferry Star that will begin service on the Tallinn-Helsinki route in April 2007.
