AS Tallink Grupp statement regarding news reports from “Turun Sanomat”
News reports from “Turun Sanomat” implying that AS Tallink Grupp has not paid salaries for employees working on Superfast ferries is unfounded. The agreement which the article refers to was reached between Tallink and the Finnish Seaman’s Union (FSU) in June 2006. This agreement in principle stipulates that the mechanisms and exact details should be agreed and documented by the latest on the 30th of September 2006 and that the agreement will be retroactive to June 1st 2006. Working groups on both sides have met several times and are negotiating to reach agreement on the salaries by the September deadline as set out in the agreement.
AS Tallink Grupp has fulfilled its contracts and commitments as a reliable partner and regrets that the attack from the FSU comes at a particularly sensitive time when the company is in the middle of a share issue worth close to 100 million EURO.
