The significant growth of fuel prices on world market will add fuel surcharge to the Tallink and Silja ship tickets

PRESS RELEASE

Tallink Grupp announced today that due to the significant fuel price increase on the world market the additional fuel price supplement will be added to the passenger tickets.

Starting from January 7, 2008 Tallink will add to the Estonia-Finland route 3 euros as a fuel price supplement to the ticket price of fares that start from January 15, 2008. On Estonia-Sweden, Latvia-Sweden and Finland-Sweden routes the fuel price supplement will be 5 euros and on the Estonia-Finland-Germany route 8 euros.

The fuel surcharge will not apply to bookings done before January 7, 2008 and tickets that have been already paid. The increase will not apply to trips that take place before January 15, 2008 nor be applied to cars.

Tallink Grupp follows the regulations of international MARPOL convention and conforms to the higher requirements for the ship fuel from Swedish and Finnish authorities. Therefore, Tallink’s and Silja’s ships use more environment-friendly fuel with a low sulfur content but in a higher price range.

Fuel prices have doubled on the world market since January 2007. Many international ship companies have started, similar to airlines, adding a fuel supplement charge to their fare prices.  Further information regarding the pricing is available on Tallink’s homepage and from the client services.
