Tallink`s vessels got a modern passenger tube in Riga Port

According to AS Tallink Grupp the passengers of Riga-Stockholm route can from today on use a modern passenger tube when moving between the ship and the terminal in Riga Port.

The Managing Director of Tallink Latvija Mr. Hillard Taur said, that it is very thankworthy, that the Port of Riga finally got the exploitation documents for the tube built in April ready just before the bad weather arrived. „Riga-Stockholm route has been very successful this year, the number of passengers is constantly rising and the second vessel launched in April and everyday departures are definitely justifying themselves. One can not underestimate the importance of the passenger tube for the traveling convenience, so we are very happy, that from now on our passengers can also enter or leave the ship in a comfortable way”, added Taur.

During the last financial year of 2006/2007 Tallink served altogether 256 690 passengers on Riga-Stockholm route, which is 165,4 percent more than the year before. The number of transported vehicles on the route rose 203,8 percent to 38 832 vehicles and the number of cargo units 442,1 percent to 8 479 units.

Tallink opened Riga-Stockholm shipping route in April 2006 with M/S Fantaasia, which was replaced by M/S Regina Baltica in May 2006. In 2007 renovated M/S Vana Tallinn was added to the route service.
