Superstar was delivered to Tallink

Today, on 8th of April a new generation high speed vessel M/S Superstar was delivered from Fincantieri shipyards in Italy to AS Tallink Grupp's subsidiary Tallink Superfast Ltd. The vessel will star operating on Tallinn-Helsinki route.

CEO of AS Tallink Grupp, Mr. Enn Pant said, that a year after launching the new Tallink Shuttle high speed ferry service it is clear that it has been warmly welcomed by the passengers. „Adding Superstar as the second Shuttle vessel should additionally increase the popularity, as the ten departures per day offer great travelling opportunities. Tallinks`s ships schedule on Tallinn-Helsinki route will now have departures every hour or two from the early morning until the late night. An important advantage is, that all Tallink trips are made by brand new ships, “said Pant.

According to the plans, M/S Superstar starts on Tallinn-Helsinki route from 21st of April. Along with M/S Star delivered to Tallink in 2007, the ship will start servicing the passengers on bases of the Tallink Shuttle service. The year round high speed service between Helsinki and Tallinn will then be improved by having 10 departures per day.

The new 1A ice class vessel will M/S Superstar has the speed of 27,5 knots, which enables her to sail between Helsinki and Tallinn in less than 2 hours.

The Godmother of the M/S Superstar is the best Estonian tennis player Kaia Kanepi.

The hull’s green color of the Tallink Shuttle vessels Star and Superstar characterizes the environmental aspects of the ships.  Both vessels consume less fuel, have modern technical solutions and create much smaller waves compared to the smaller high speed crafts. Superstar has a number of additional environmental innovations on board ike the food waste separator, which enables to process bio waste etc.

M/S Superstar is 175,1 meters long and 27,6 meters wide and is a bit bigger than her sister vessel M/S Star. It accommodates up to 2080 passengers and 1930 lane meters of vehicles. The ship has 186 cabins and 736 berths.

The pearl of the interior design of the ship is the show-bar located in the fore of the ship going through three floors and having a large glass wall. Passengers can also visit and enjoy themselves in the many restaurants and cafes onboard which include an a la carte restaurant, two buffet-restaurants, a pizza-restaurant, hamburger-café, and ice-cream corner for children, children’s play corner, sun-deck bar, a casino and business lounge. In the stern there is a bar going through two floors and having a glass wall. On board M/S Superstar one can also find large shops which sell everything from groceries, alcohol, latest cosmetics, clothes, fashion accessories and much, much more.

The Italian interior designers of the ship are Carlo Ciribi and Alessandro Cestaro.

The price of the vessel is approximately 120 million Euros.
